Over the past few months, I’ve been so lucky to have done a lot of human design reports. I just love doing them so much and every chart brings me a new revelation and a deeper understanding. One thing I’ve found so interesting whilst doing these reports is the different circuits of energies within each charts. I’ve started to notice a bit of a pattern. In Human Design, there are three different circuits of energy: the individual circuit, the tribal circuit and the collective circuit. Every gate and channel belongs to a different circuit of energy – all of which are present within each charts in varying degrees.
The individual circuit is all about self awareness, self-focus and learning about oneself and the people around you through the lens of self inquiry – a lot of growth and investigation happens in this circuit. The tribal circuit is all about looking after the tribe – your family, friends and the physical community you interact with everyday. It’s about education, rules, survival and the sharing of resources to ensure your tribe is ok. The collective circuit is all about looking after humanity and the planet on a level of collective consciousness. The sharing and spreading of big ideas that could lead to the implementation of laws that could take care of EVERY tribe and culture on a global level – it’s an energy that seeks to uplift the entire planet beyond individual and tribal concerns.
What I’ve noticed in my work so far is that the older generations seem to have a lot of tribal energy in their charts – looking after their friends and families and communities and making sure that everyone is nourished, clothed, educated and protected is very important to them.
My generation seems to have a lot of individual energy in our charts – energy which moves the lens away from caring for the tribe and towards a place of self-inquiry. This, I feel, is essential when it comes to healing old traumas and triggers that can help up us level up to a place of understanding and empathy towards ourselves and those around us. We’re only free to do this when we are nourished and protected and so the hard work of our parents and grandparents had its purpose – to enable us this freedom to actually start doing the healing that is required to free ourselves, but most importantly, to heal the generations we birth into this world.
The younger generation, or the souls born within the last two to three decades (yes 2000 was twenty years ago – eeeeep!), all seem to contain more collective energy – the energy focused on looking after humanity and the planet as a whole.
Over the last few weeks, during the climate change strikes and protests, and watching the subsequent reactions of the different generations to this protests, this observation has really started to make sense to me. Our baby boomers needed to look after one another after the aftermath of the world wars – survival, protection and upliftment of their physical tribe – their family and friends – was very important. My generation, the first generation to live with the internet and social media, is all about self-inquiry and the need to step back and analyse the effects of the past and the present on our own lives. This enables us to move towards forgiveness, the healing of old generational traumas and finding the courage to move forward. And the next generations? They have inherited form their grandparents the tribal imprint of looking after their communities, as well as the self-inquiry imprint from their parents, and now they are free to expand their horizons to a space of implementing massive global change, and perhaps even upheaval, to the old systems holding us back.
In Human Design it is said that around 2027, a new way of living will begin. I am so interested to see how this all plays out in the next decade. I can already feel big change coming. A change needs to come. The change that I have seen occur in my life just over the last decade has been incredible. And I feel like social media (for all it’s shortcomings) is here to accelerate this movement. For me, it all makes perfect sense. Everything that has happened, was meant to be. And so we go on. Let the old systems fall. Let us make new systems and let us bring back the abandoned ones that served humanity and our planet. I’m so excited to see what is in store for us all!

Very interesting read, Keri. Thank you for this great summary. I’m intrigued by Human Design and my interest was peaked since you mentioned it. Now I’m finding it everywhere. Definitely want my chart done but first just getting more information on it.
