Towards the end of last year I was introduced to Human Design by my friends, Amy and Natalie. To put it bluntly, they were both pestering the bojangles out of me to go onto BodyGraph.com and let them know what Human Design “type” I was. I had no idea what they were going on about, but to please them, I went online, punched in my birth date, birth location and birth time, and discovered that my type was a Manifesting Generator (both Amy and Natalie’s Human Design Types are Projectors). The body graph images that came up were like hieroglyphics, and the little information that was provided was both confusing and a little vague. I had NO idea what was going on. Natalie then sent me a couple of podcast interviews with Human Design reader, Jenna Zoe, and as I opened myself up to the conversations and wisdom around the whole system, the more and more it all began to make sense to me. And man, did it resonate. I lost myself in a black hole, jumping from one site to the next (some helpful, some not so much, most very confusing), binging on podcast episodes, and getting my mum-in-law to bring me a copy of a Human Design book from the UK.
After reading the book and taking the time to really learn about my own type, my authority, my strategy, my profile, my defined and undefined energy centers, my gates, my channels and my incarnation cross (yes, I know it sounds like gibberish – bear with me), I felt a real sense of peace with who I am and the way I do things. Knowing your Human Design chart really gives you the permission to accept your highest powers and your limiting powers (in other words your “strengths” and “weaknesses” – but I hesitate to use these words, because nothing is good or bad in Human Design) and to embrace who you are. To be honest, if I hadn’t resonated so much with my body graph, the whole concept would have been a load of nonsense to me. The premise of Human Design is that we are all very individual (no two Human Design charts are the same) but that all of us have, in our own ways, the powers and gifts needed to bring forth the ideas and growth necessary for healing and survival in our own communities, and transferring those ideas and concepts to the survival and healing of our global tribe and consciousness. By learning about, accepting, and using your type, strategy and authority to make big decisions in life, so you help raise the consciousness of the people, and ultimately, the world, around you.
The Bit About Human Design
From a very young age, we have all been conditioned to live our lives in certain ways. Some generations are raised a little differently to others, but for the sake of this post, I’m going to use the example of my generation. We were taught that if we’re wanting to be successful, or if we’re going to achieve anything in life, we need to “go out and get it”. Work hard, make bold moves, take big risks, curate connections, strike while the iron’s hot – you know the drill, right? How many times have you wrestled with these life instructions when planning a big project or making a life-changing decision? How many times has a little voice or feeling inside you maybe said, “umm… maybe you should wait a little bit until you’re sure?” but has been pushed aside by society’s go-go attitude, which, let’s be fair, is driven mainly be fear and scarcity? Fear of losing that opportunity, or even worse, someone else taking that opportunity away from you? And so we often dive into things when maybe we’re not ready, when we’re not prepared, when we don’t have the necessary support… and land with our faces in the proverbial mud.
Yup… we’ve all been there, right? Of course we are here to make mistakes and, yes, we do learn from failure, and there’s always something to be said for getting back up and brushing yourself off before re-entering the arena. But I feel that there’s also a call for a deconditioning of the way society has told us to live our lives. A call to return to a place of authenticity within ourselves and our own bodies. A return to true self, the way we were born, just as were created, before life and parents and teachers and the media got involved. What if the secret to how you should make decisions in life was already installed in your cells, an energetic blueprint if you will, from the time of your spiritual and physical birth? What if your blueprint specified that you are not supposed to “just go out there and make things happen”? What if the best thing for the health of your body, mind and spirit is to wait for a sign to come your way before jumping feet first into the abyss? What if you’re actually a born collaborator, or a helper, who maybe is not so great at starting new projects, but who is bloody brilliant at helping others with theirs?
Are you nodding your head at this? Because I sure was when I first found out that I’m simply not one of those people who can just jump into things and make them work straight away. And the truth is that the only type of people who really are able to do this are Manifestors – and they only make up about 8% of the human population! The vast majority of us are Generators, Manifesting Generators and Projectors – all of whom have to wait to respond, or wait for invitations, or wait to visualize and inform others before “jumping” in to making decisions about the big stuff.
Are you still with me? Let me explain in relation to my own personal human design a little more.
Human Design & My Story
Something I have been “battling” with all my life is the truth that I “jump” from venture to project to job a lot; I get bored easily and I devour information and new ideas. One of the reasons I have these traits in my chart is because, according to my Human Design, I am a Manifesting Generator. MG’s are notorious for having their fingers in many pies and it’s important to see this trait as a gift, not a hindrance. The ability to have this inherent abundance of energy and curiosity is not something to be scoffed at, or to be ashamed of. In fact, I now consider these traits to be a big gift. After delving further into my chart profile (5/1 Heretic Investigator), my gates and my channels, it’s also clear that I’m designed to bring forth new ideas into the community around me, which will eventually lead to changes on a global level. And, of course, these ideas are mostly seen, at first, as a little strange and “out there” to the public at large. (And probably what you’re thinking right now about Human Design as you read this, thinking I’ve totally lost my marbles!)
For me, the first thing that came to mind on reading this information about myself, was my journey to Veganism. As I’ve said many times before, when I first went vegan five years ago, I was the only vegan I knew in my little community. People thought I had gone a little crazy at first, but I knew I was making the right decision for me and how I wanted to live my life and how I was going to impact the beings and the earth around me. I was steadfast in my convictions. Fast forwards a few years later, and Veganism is now a concept most people know about, or have at least heard about. I have many friends now who follow a vegan or vegetarian or pescatarian diet after chatting to me about my journey, or through reading my social media and blog posts. Some of them have even started vegan businesses themselves! Everyday I see the Vegan community and the global consciousness around living a kinder lifestyle growing – and it’s incredible! And of course while I’m still very much into Veganism, there are many other things that have come along the way that I’ve got involved in – wholeheartedly! This is not a bad thing – it just adds to the repertoire of my skills and interests that I will use to be of service to others and to bring fort other new ideas and concepts to the community around me. It’s certainly not a terrible thing that I will never hold down one career or job at the same type of company for the rest of my life – it’s just not how I’m meant to make an impact in this lifetime. This is just one truth in my immediate life history that I felt directly resonated with nuances within my Human Design chart. There are so many other little truths and big a-ha moments that I felt whilst reading about my chart. These have all really helped me feel comfortable with the way I do life and have also provided some insight and guidance into the parts of me that may vibrate on a lower frequency if I don’t stay true to my type and strategy.
Another major resonation for me was reading about my Incarnation Cross, which, put simply, is the map to your purpose on earth in this lifetime. Reading mine actually gave me chills. You want to see it? Of course you do! Here it goes:
The energy of your Cross provides direction about what is needed. This is not about what is needed today, but rather further down the road. Currently this is the voice of the organic movement. ”Sure, through use of commercial fertilization and pesticides we are producing a lot of food, but the soil will wear out and the ecosystem is unbalanced and it the long run we are going to have big problems. Sustainable farming is the solution for the long run.” You are here to be the voice that points us in the longer term direction, especially with respect to food and things we require for survival.
Whhhhhaaaat! Every single day I make decisions and communicate with others about the way we consume, especially in regards to food and survival. The planet being sustainable for my child and our future grandchildren is literally something that keeps me up at night, drives much of the work I do, and influences the decisions I make and the people I choose to engage with every day. My Personality Gate is Gate 19 – the Gate of Wanting – which carries the energy of sensitivity. If you know me at all, you will know I am super sensitive – from touch and feel and taste to emotional energy. My skin is so sensitive that I cannot shave very often or wax at all! I break out in rashes, or it peels off entirely, and someone has even referred to my skin as being transparent – which I think speaks volumes about my physical and emotional body and the way it interacts with and reacts to outside influences. Gate 19 is also the energy gate that hooks into the mammalian chart and indicates a sensitivity to the energy of animals. I mean… guys. You know! You know.
Getting to Know YOUR Human Design
Ok, so I bet you’re thinking, this is all fabulous Keri, but why are you telling us this? Here’s the thing. I am wholly obsessed with Human Design and I think it’s a wonderful and powerful self-awareness tool – in life, in business, in relationships and even in parenting. Imagine knowing your child’s human design and how they operate best in the world before you, or their teachers, or anyone else, conditions them to be something they are not? I am so here for this. I want you to be here for this. I want you to discover these things about yourself, to start deconstructing the conditioning that’s run your life for years, and to truly start living in a way that feels good and serves your higher purpose.
Human Design, however, is a really hard thing to navigate – and even after six months of delving into it, I’m still learning new things every day. The truth is, it’s a minefield of information out there. And Human Design readings don’t come cheap either – which is why I did a lot of the research and reading on my own and why it took so long for me to start getting a hold of it. The bottom line is that, ultimately, I want to study the crap out of this amazing system and become a Human Design reader (you know, along with the many other things I already do -lol!). There is SO much to learn! So I’m starting to save up and I was wondering if you could help me out? If this topic interests you and you would like to know more about the energies in your chart, but don’t have the time or patience to sit on google for weeks on end figuring it all out, I would love to send you a detailed PDF document with all the information about your human design type, profile, strategy, authority, gates, channels and incarnation cross. This document will be about 20 pages long and will contain all the necessary information for you to start fleshing out your Human Design in relation to your own life. I will also send you an audio clip where I run through interpreting your chart for you. If you love it, you can also get your partner’s, your kids’, your parents’, or even your best friend’s HD done! It’s amazing how much easier it is to relate to others once you know a little about their human design. I have a done a few of these reports for my friends already and they have all found them them to be a quick and useful starting point in their Human Design journey.
Pop me an email {[email protected]} if you’d like me to put together your own report – I would love to help you take your first step into the exciting world that is Human Design! I have two different packages available. Because of the intricacies involved within an individual chart, it will take me a bit of time to put your report together, but trust me, it will be worth it! Mail me, mail me, mail me!
And, if you’d like to try and explore your human design on your own, here are some spots online to get you started:
